The Hammond Piano Company was owned and controlled by the Straube Piano Company of Hammond, Indiana. (The Hammond Piano Company had no relation to the famous Hammond Organs that were popular in the middle and late 20th Century.) The Hammond name was produced mainly during the 1900-1930 era, and they were built as an affordable alternative to the costlier Staube brand name while offering comparable quality. The Hammond pianos we have seen come through our shop have been very well made, durable instruments. |
