     London, Berlin.
STORY & CLARK PIANO CO., Est. 1857 by Hampton L. Story, made his first
     piano at Burlington, VT In 1862 the name was changed to Story & Powers.
     In 1868 Isaac N. Camp was taken into the firm, Hampton L.  Story retired
     in 1884 and Melville Clark was admitted, the name was changed to Story &
     Clark.  Melville Clark went to Grand Haven, MI and started the Melville
      Clark Co.  H. L. Story advertised J. W Vose pianos at a price of $300.00 in
      1869 this was evidently a square piano. In 1865 Story sold Guild and Allen
      & Jewett pianos. In 1869 advertised Behning & Klix and Weber.  Was also
       connected with Reeds Temple of Music in Chicago. Used names Irvington,
     Storygrand, Tennyson and Story-Tone. Factory: Grand Haven, MI. Made
      Reed Organs 1887 - 1900, in Chicago, London and Berlin.  Yamaha made
      some grands for Story & Clark in Japan, in the mid to late 1970's.  In 1961
       the Bull and Story families sold to Chicago Musical Instrument Co. In 1965
        the Story family still retained partial stock ownership along with C. M. I.
      Co. In 1970, bought by Lowrey, a Div. of Norlin Industries, 707 Lake Cook
      Rd., Deerfield, IL. Used a Chas. Frederick Stein scale since 1970.  In 1991a
      division of Classic Player Piano, Seneca, PA.  Pianos controlled:  Story &
      Clark, Irvington, Tennyson, Hobart M. Cable, Hampton, Price & Teeple
     and Packard.  Story & Clark and Classic Player were purchased by QRS
       Music Rolls, Inc., 1026 Niagara St., Buffalo, NY, in 1993.  The Story &
      Clark factory is now located at 269 Quaker Drive, Seneca, PA 16346.
