1790s five and a half octave George Astor (London) square pianoforte from the period of George III. The nameboard features exquisite oil paintings of swags of flowers and a very nice porcelain name plaque which reads "G. Astor, No. 79 Cornhill, London". There is one handstop for sustain. Serial number 1596.

This is an exceptional instrument in pristine very fine condition for the time period. Most of the strings are in excellent condition, with just a few missing. The soundboard and bridge are both in remarkably nice condition as well.
The case is mahogany with inlaid stringing. This pianoforte comes on the original very fine Hepplewhite style stand. The ivories are also exceptional as are the molded keyfronts.
